Harold Lloyd, Girl Shy, Part Ten
November 12, 2008, admin
A truly frantic section. This is the archetypal Hollywood chaos-creating chase scene. I’m pretty sure the tram scene is directly copied in a Jackie Chan film and other ideas seen here crop up in a hundred other films. Certainly, some of the horse-related shenanigans were borrowed for the original Ben Hur chariot scene, filmed a year later.
Today, Harold Lloyd is - quite unjustifiably - an almost forgotten comic genius. Fortunately, there are now some fantastic collections on DVD. Watch Harold’s best films as they should be seen! Just follow the links below to find these at the cheapest prices available - they make ideal birthday or Christmas presents.
